Walk or Run for the Dogs

Dogs for Diabetics will hold its first annual fundraising walk on Saturday, August 16, 2008. The fundraiser will take place from 8am until 12 noon in downtown Clayton. On Saturdays, Clayton features a Farmer's Market (9am to 1pm) and a Concert in the Park evening performance (6pm to 8pm). There are several local restaurants available for lunch or dinner.

Our Walk will offer three shady routes through the city streets and trail system, each ranging from 2 miles to 6 miles in length, making the fundraiser accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities. An optional run will be started as the first event for the day, and walkers will be started on a staggered basis during the morning.

We request that participants ask their friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers to make a donation to Dogs for Diabetics in support of their participation in the walk. Each donation is tax deductible, and 100% of every donation will directly support Dogs for Diabetics.

We invite participants to set a fundraising goal of $200. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided to every participant in the walk. In addition, we have a number of thank you gifts, including t-shirts, gift certificates, etc., that will be given to participants who reach certain fundraising levels. There will also be a drawing for prizes for participants. We will also have D4D hats and shirts for sale, and we will also have a silent auction with some wonderful opportunities to bid on vacations in beautiful homes in Tahoe and Napa as well as other great items.

All participants will receive a D4D pin at registration. Additionally, for every $25 in contributions raised, a ticket for our prize drawing will be provided. If you raise $200, you will receive 8 drawing tickets. Additionally, the following gifts will be provided based on contributions earned, the gifts will accumulate as you move to the next level:

• For $50 – A choice of a personal water bottle or a dog water bottle
• For $100 – An event T-shirt with a special D4D design
• For $500 – A choice of a duffle or picnic blanket with a D4D logo
• Grand Prize - For the largest donation, over $1,000 – A Wii game player

If you indicate that you are interested in walking with us, you will receive a response including directions to downtown Clayton and a required sponsorship form to keep track of your donations. Pre-registration is encouraged. Drop-in registration will be available beginning at 7am at the Gazebo in Clayton's downtown.

For those who don't want to walk, please join us in the park for the day and enjoy downtown Clayton.
